Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of severe deficiencies. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care grade and that actually turned out to be its next most respectable score. For prospective residents looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility wound up receiving a bottom of the barrel grade in our short-term care category. It was given a lowly F in this category. Our short-term care scores are believed to be more meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this place is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected here. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Moving on to our last category, this nursing home really didn't fare well in this category either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. In calculating a facility's nursing grade, we consider the amount of time nurses are caring for residents and the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Unfortunately, this nursing home also had terrible scores in some of the quality-based metrics to pair with its weak nursing hour totals. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers. This nursing home was at more than double the national average in this datapoint. This is quite concerning when you consider that so many bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of earning a very weak nursing rating.
