Registered Staff Hours
Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of A for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid places that have a long list of severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. The lack of deficiencies proved to be this place's greatest strength.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second most favorable category was short-term care, but it still received a grade of just D in that area. This still happens to be a relatively poor score. In computing our short-term care scores, we size up a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This score is often a solid assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. As you might expect, we discovered that this place provides significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the typical facility. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only earned a D for its long-term care score, which is not an impressive grade. Nursing homes that don't score well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 84.10596 percent of its residents. This is many points below average. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
The last category we scored is nursing, which is a low point for this nursing home. We awarded this facility a grade of D in the area of nursing. Nursing ratings are largely tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place was above average in two of the major metrics we considered, with solid marks for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
