Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it earned a strong short-term care grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an A. In the area of short-term care, we seek to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A. Our nursing grade is primarily based on the facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we assessed is long-term care. Contributing to its superb resume, this facility also excelled in this category. In fact, it received a grade of of A in that category. For patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 79.88827 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
In the final category we looked at, we found that this nursing home earned a solid government inspection report this year as well, with few major dings from government inspectors. It earned a decent score in our inspection category with a B. This facility didn't have any major weak links. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
