Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
Even though we did not have many positive things to say about this nursing home's overall score, it did receive a better long-term care score of B-. This improved its profile to a degree. Our long-term care scores are meaningful for residents requiring personal care. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients, which is an above average total. This place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of C for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating is mostly based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.

Facility Inspections
This facility received slightly below average inspections in recent years. We awarded them a C in this area. Inspection grades account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This place had 6 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in any of the categories labeled G through L. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent danger to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at is short-term care. We awarded this facility a C in that category. In computing our short-term care scores, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is frequently a useful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. We were surprised to find that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
