Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with a favorable overall grade, we gave this place a grade of A+ for our inspection category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home excelled in our long-term care rating. We gave them an impressive score of A+ in this area. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. The nursing rating weighs a handful of datapoints, many of which are based on nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to the last area, this facility was awarded an extremely favorable short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ in this area, wrapping up one of our finer profiles. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. It does not appear that this facility provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
