Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with a favorable overall grade, we gave this place a grade of A+ for our inspection category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home was awarded an elite grade of A in our long-term care area. Facilities that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.26471 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

The next category we analyzed is short-term care. Adding to its elite resume, this nursing home also performed well in this category. In fact, it received a of A for that area. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. It does not appear that this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
