Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this facility well overall, we would like to point out its decent inspections in recent years. We gave it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in that area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. This place received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an B-. Nursing grades are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing grades also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility received its third most favorable category score in the area of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this category, which is an acceptable score. In the category of short-term care, we seek to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average facility. The last measure we considered in this category is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was long-term care. We gave this nursing home a C in this area. Our long-term care grade is typically used to measure a nursing home's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services offered by a rehabilitation facility. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is more than the average nursing home. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
