On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient health or safety. Among the reasons we graded this facility so well is that it received a favorable long-term care grade. Indeed, long-term care turned out to be its second most impressive category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A-. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 69.48229 percent of its residents. This is a few points less than we anticipated but still a decent figure. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of C in this category is by no means a bad score. Nursing grades are primarily tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is far below average. Finally, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it did very well in this statistic.
