Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out the fact that this facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A+ in this category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
To complement its elite performance in other areas, we gave this facility a grade of A for our short-term care rating. In computing our short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to formulate a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this category is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
In our last category, this facility also was given a very strong long-term care rating, with a grade of A-. This wrapped up a straight A profile. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death ailment for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't take any chances. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
