Long-term Care Quality
Even though we did not give this nursing home a good overall score, we actually awarded it a strong score in the area of long-term care, where it earned a B. This is better than most facilities in this category. This helped an otherwise abysmal profile. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients healthy. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This score is a more impressive than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report, which is still very impressive. At the end of the day, this was a generally positive inspection report.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our nursing score focuses on the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at is short-term care. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this area, which is a poor grade. With our short-term care assessment, we attempt to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. With its grade in this category, we were not surprised to find that this place was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.8 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below the national average.
