Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Contributing to its profile, this facility also earned a score of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this category. In calculating our short-term care grades, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is more often than not a fair measure of the nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we analyzed is long-term care. This facility was awarded an above average long-term care grade, with a B in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we scored is nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this area. Our nursing rating includes a handful of subcategories, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat concerning figure which is well below average. Lastly, although this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this statistic.
