Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we didn't rate this facility well overall, we want to acknowledge it received a decent grade of B- in the area of nursing. Nursing scores are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next highest area was its short-term care grade, where it was awarded a B-. With our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a fair measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients that returned home from this facility. We found that 3.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The third area we looked at is long-term care, where this facility was awarded a C in this category. Long-term care grades are based on the facility's volume of nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility gave the vaccine to 94.61078 percent of its patients, which is a very solid figure. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Looking to our final category of inspections, we gave this facility a grade of just just D, which is a relatively poor grade. Our inspection rating is based on the facility's government inspections. Since this information is collected by government inspectors, we place significant weight on it in our overall grades. One of the more important factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We suggest you pay close attention to the severity of the deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they caused a threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
