Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was given a fine short-term care grade. This actually is its third best category grade. In that category, this facility received a score of A-. In determining our short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to devise a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. This place was respectable in this area with 47.4 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
In our last area, this nursing home also received an excellent nursing rating, with a B+. This rounded out an elite report card. We looked at the licensure of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses worked with patients, in calculating our rating in this category. This particular nursing home provided 3.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was above the national average. Lastly, this facility also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at.
