Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this place is a strong nursing home is that it received an impressive inspection rating. In fact, inspections is its best category. In this area, we awarded it a grade of A. Our inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area typically have few of these severe deficiencies. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so well is that it was given a strong long-term care score. Indeed, long-term care ended up being its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility a score of A-. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are kept in good health. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 97.4359 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home was given a strong short-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our higher scores in that area with a grade of B. Our short-term care scores are meaningful for residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next area we graded is nursing, in which this nursing home was given a grade of C. Even though this ended up being its lowest category grade, this is still a middle of the pack score. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is well below average. Lastly, we look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are indicators of the quality of nursing care.
