Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a great overall score, this place also earned first-rate government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in this area, with an A. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. The nursing rating weighs many factors, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 2.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the third category, this nursing home also received a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this area. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is long-term care, which proved to be this facility's least impressive category. We awarded this facility a D in this area. Naturally, this grade pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to a certain degree. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.61905 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.56 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
