Registered Staff Hours
Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better scores in that area with a B. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid facilities that have too many deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies is this facility's best achievement.
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we awarded this facility an D. We weighed the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in determining our rating in this area. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these datapoints to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the category of short-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in that category. In our short-term care rating, we try to craft a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. As you might expect, we found that this place offers far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed is long-term care, in which this facility received a poor score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is definitely a major disappointment. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 98.21429 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
