Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This facility received a strong overall grade as described above, but we especially wanted to point out its excellent government inspections in recent years. We gave them an A- in this category. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is really what you like to see on an inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our nursing grade is mostly based on a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's third highest category is its short-term care score, where it was given a grade of B-. Our short-term care grade is often employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to have quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the fourth area, this facility was given a decent long-term care score of C. Long-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine medical services. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this facility vaccinated only 57.046978 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this place keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
