Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many dominant scores, this nursing home received a strong short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- in that category. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this nursing home is that it excelled in inspections, with a grade of B in that category. It performed better than most facilities in this area. Inspection scores are tied to many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The last area we graded is this nursing home's worst category. However, even its worst category would be a highlight for many facilities. We awarded it a favorable grade of B in our long-term care category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
