Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we did not have many favorable things to say about this facility's overall score, it earned a respectable government inspection report this year. It received a decent score in this category with a B-. Our inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B-. The nursing score weighs several components, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. Based on the staffing data, it looks like this facility provides an impressive 5.6 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Out of this total, nearly one quarter of these hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. Finally, we also factored in some quality-based assessments. This facility fared well in a few of the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility beat the national average. This is generally an indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented with better nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third area we looked at was short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a decent grade of B-. Short-term care ratings are important for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered substantially more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home, which is actually below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Turning to the last area, this nursing home was given a respectable long-term care score of B-. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 91.53846 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 2.43 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was better than most facilities since it had some more complex patients.
