Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home also received an excellent short-term care grade, with an A. In calculating these short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our objective is to devise a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. It outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the country in this area with 63.7 percent of its residents returning home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. The nursing category includes quite a few datapoints, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 7.7 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This was one of the more impressive figures we found. Furthermore, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to looking at levels of nursing care, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these areas as predictive indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category, we awarded this facility a grade of A for its long-term care score. This rounded out an elite report card. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. This nursing home's vaccination records were not as strong as its nursing hours. It provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 19.230768 percent of its patients. We'd like to see some improvement in this area in the future. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
