This grade is typically a fair assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. When we looked at this facility's physical therapist hours, we found it offered more hours of physical therapy per day to its residents than most nursing homes. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the facility. We found that it fared as well as just about any nursing home in Colorado in this area with 65.8 percent of its residents returning home.
Facility Inspections
Turning to inspections, this facility excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's government inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. We weren't able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without having deficiency related data, it is difficult to fully assess it in the area of inspections.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Our nursing grade focuses on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 3.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these metrics as reliable measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we scored was long-term care, in which this nursing home was given a B-. This actually is this facility's least impressive category. This is nevertheless not the end of the world. In calculating our long-term care scores, we analyze the personal care offered to the nursing home's patients. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 97.862236 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations.
