Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing rating. The nursing score assesses quite a few factors, most of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility actually fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is as important as the quantity of hours of care offered.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't grade out too badly in the area of long-term care. In fact, we awarded it a C in that area, which turned out to be another one of its more favorable scores. For prospective patients seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 97.77778 percent of its patients. This facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home really didn't perform horribly in inspections. In fact, we gave them a C for that category. Other categories turned out to be the source of this nursing home's abysmal overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite insignificant. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our next category, this nursing home really did not perform very well in this area either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Our short-term care scores are presumably most meaningful for those in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. With its score in this category, we weren't surprised to find that this place is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the measures we looked at. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.5 percent of its residents returning home.
