Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place also excelled in the category of inspections, where it earned a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

We also awarded this nursing home a solid grade in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of C. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. Unfortunately, this facility vaccinated only 90.74074 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Lastly, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. We found that this facility had 2.15 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. While this figure is somewhat concerning, this statistic can be skewed for some nursing homes due to the medical complexity of patients.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

As it turns out, this nursing home only received a D for its short-term care score, which is not an impressive grade. Short-term care grades are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Considering its score in this area, we were not surprised to find that this place is well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The final statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to our next area, we gave this facility a D in our nursing category. This was the nursing home's least impressive category rating. When determining our nursing grades, we assess both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. With only 1.8 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were far below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
