Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is it received an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this very important area. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. Nursing scores are primarily tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a policy of turning patients more often.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also fared very well in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a score of A-. Very few facilities performed better in this category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 90.86539 percent of its patients. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the final area, this facility was awarded an acceptable short-term care score. While this is not quite as elite as many of its other category grades, this is still not a poor grade. In calculating our short-term care grades, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is often a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 2.8 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
