Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with a strong overall score, we gave this place an A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The third area we analyzed was short-term care. This facility was awarded an impressive short-term care grade, with a grade of B in the category. In the area of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we scored is this nursing home's weakest area. Nevertheless, even its worst category would likely be a highlight for most nursing homes. We awarded it a favorable grade of B for long-term care. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 98.433044 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
