Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place ended up being a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical area. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. We weighed the licensure of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses were with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This nursing home averages 3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to our next area, this nursing home also received a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average score in this area. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 92.01183 percent of its residents. Fortunately, this place excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 1.14 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a significantly lower hospitalization rate than most nursing homes.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next category we graded was short-term care. We gave this nursing home one of our more favorable scores in that category, with a grade of B. Even though this isn't as high as several of its other grades, it is still a fine score. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this facility. We found that it performed respectably with 46.6 percent of its patients returning home.
