Facility Inspections

Grade: A

The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its impeccable health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our better grades in that category, with an A. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also was given an impressive short-term care grade. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of B+ in that category, which is one of our more favorable scores. With our short-term care assessment, we seek to craft a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Another strength of this facility is its favorable grade in nursing. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with an impressive grade of D. We analyzed the levels of nurses employed by the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in determining our score in this area. This nursing home provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we graded is long-term care, which ended up being this nursing home's least impressive category. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is certainly very concerning. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
