One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this very important area. Inspection ratings are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This nursing home was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was elite in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A. Not many facilities performed better in this area. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of offering very impressive levels of nursing care, this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 99.81785 percent of its residents. This statistic is also much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.38 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. Nursing grades are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. Finally, this place also performed well in several of the quality measures we assessed. In terms of the number of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we rated proved to be this facility's poorest area. However, even in its weakest link we still awarded it a decent grade of B- in our short-term care category. In calculating our short-term care grades, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is generally a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The last metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. It was respectable in this metric with 47.2 percent of its patients returning home.
