Facility Inspections
To go along with its decent overall grade, we gave this nursing home an A for its inspection grade. This grade is far better than its overall grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we still had favorable view of this facility's inspections.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we also would like to point out that this nursing home received favorable long-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our better grades in this category, with a B. This turned out to be the nursing home's second strongest grade. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 99.45055 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the category of short-term care, this nursing home was awarded a grade of just D in that category. Our short-term care scores are important for individuals looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home offers significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
This facility's weakest area is nursing, which is the final area we assessed. For this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D. When determining our nursing ratings, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. To pair with its below average total nursing hours per resident, this place had really bad marks in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. For starters, we looked at the percent of patients sustaining falls leading to major injury. This nursing home was at more than 150 percent of the national average in this statistic. This is concerning in light of the fact that so many falls could be prevented with better nursing care. This ended up sealing the nursing home's fate of earning a poor nursing rating.
