Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we were not high on this facility overall, we gave it a B- in nursing. This score is better than its overall score. The nursing grade considers many factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below the national average. Lastly, although this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this metric.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a solid score in the category of long-term care, with a grade of B-. For prospective residents seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home received mediocre inspections in recent years. We awarded them a C in this area. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Surprisingly, this nursing home was hit with a category J through K deficiency, which are some of the worst categories of deficiencies. This typically indicates inspectors found a deficiency which places resident safety or health in imminent jeopardy. In addition to having severe deficiencies, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we rated is short-term care, which ended up being this facility's weakest category. We awarded this facility a grade of D in this category. In our short-term care score, we try to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Considering its abysmal grade in this category, we weren't stunned to discover that this nursing home provides substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most facilities. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 3.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
