Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

While we didn't give this place a good overall grade, we did give it a relatively strong grade in the area of inspections, where it earned a B+. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of C. Nursing scores are primarily tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat alarming figure as it is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of these quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this area. This is typically a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a resident more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the category of short-term care, this facility received just a D in that area. Our short-term care grades are likely most important for people requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Given its grade in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next category we rated was long-term care, which is this facility's worst area. We awarded this facility a D in this area. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes provide. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. We were concerned by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 82.16783 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
