Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although this facility's overall grade was rock bottom, it didn't perform as badly in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it a B- for that category. Our nursing score includes several datapoints, however, the main one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, our nursing grades also consider quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a good indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

As it turns out, this nursing home only received a grade of D for its long-term care score, which was actually one of its more favorable category grades. When nursing homes receive this type of score in this category it is a bad sign for patient care and it may indicate that the facility is not as well-staffed. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility provided the vaccine to just 69.547325 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Among this facility's alarming category grades was an F for its inspection grade. More often than not, this means we found some red flags on the facility's inspection reports. When a place has this poor of an inspection score, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to patient safety. This facility had 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we looked at was short-term care. This facility received a very poor grade of F in this area. Our short-term care ratings are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.9 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below average.
