Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ in the area of long-term care. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 98.4375 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive grades, we awarded this nursing home an A for inspections. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively insignificant. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. In computing our nursing ratings, we assess both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we rated is short-term care. We awarded this facility a solid grade in that area, with a grade of C. Although this isn't as favorable as some of this nursing home's other scores, it is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. Our short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. We were not able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.
