Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. Our nursing rating assesses the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We factor in both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't fare too badly in the category of short-term care. In fact, we gave it a B- in that area, which wound up being another one of its better grades. Short-term care ratings are vital for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is still important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this nursing home's next highest category is long-term care. Nevertheless, with a grade of D in this area, it still fared somewhat poorly. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine personal care we looked at. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this facility provided the vaccine to only 86.2069 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best score in this category.
Facility Inspections
Turning the last category of inspections, this nursing home had an abysmal showing. Sadly, it received an F in our inspection category. This happens to be our most heavily weighted category in our overall grading system. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection grade, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This particular facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
