Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that area with a grade of A-. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few relatively minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we also would like to note that this facility was given strong long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more impressive grades in this category, with a B. This proved to be the nursing home's second highest grade. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is much higher than the average nursing home. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 2.51 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric was better than the majority of nursing homes since it had some more complicated patients.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. The nursing score analyzes many factors, but the most important one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed admirably in this datapoint.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Moving on to the next category, this facility was given a C for short-term care, which is generally a respectable score. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This area is often a useful measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. The last metric we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it was respectable in this metric with 46.7 percent of its residents returning home.
