Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this place's overall performance, it did receive an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that area with a B+. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid facilities that have a long list of deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. The nursing rating features a number of factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This facility provided just 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's third best category came in the area of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a C. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. After looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated 67.73163 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is quite a bit below what we expected. Nevertheless, this place keeps its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was short-term care, in which this facility received a very poor grade in this category also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this category, which is definitely a major disappointment. Short-term care ratings are meaningful for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Given its score in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 2.4 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
