Short-term Care Quality
C
Historical
Even though we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable short-term care grade this year. We gave it a C in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we found for this nursing home. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most important for patients requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This place performed decently in this area, with 45.9 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
C
Historical
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of C. Our nursing score assesses quite a few subcategories, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided just 3.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This figure is significantly below average. Finally, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. Although this nursing home did not have as many nursing hours per resident as many of the other facilities we looked at, it was still better than average in the area of preventing falls. This is generally a good indicator of how carefully a facility's nursing staff is tending to its patients. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections
C
Historical
As it turns out, this facility's inspection reports also weren't the source of this nursing home's rock bottom overall grade. It received a grade of C in this area. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. This facility was assessed 10 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in categories G through L. This tells you it avoided the more ominous classes of deficiencies. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Long-term Care Quality
F
Historical
Moving on to the next category, this facility didn't perform very well in this area either. With a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities provide. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 92.07317 percent of its patients, which is slightly below what we anticipated. Surprisingly, this place was not as bad as we expected at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Although it had 2.23 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted metric wasn't bad due to it having some more complicated patients.
