While we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we wanted to note its decent inspection reports in recent years. We awarded it a relatively respectable grade of B- in that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In that area, we gave this facility an B-. The nursing rating considers many datapoints. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides an impressive 4.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed admirably in this datapoint. Avoiding serious falls is often a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a nursing home offers enough nurses to assist its patients.

The third category we graded is short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a decent grade of B-. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The important question is whether this also impacted quality of care. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. This place performed much better in this area with 64.8 percent of its patients returning home. With most nursing homes, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.

Switching gears to the final category, this facility received a B- for long-term care, which is generally a decent grade. Our long-term care grade is commonly used to score a facility's performance as a traditional convalescent home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services provided by a skilled nursing facility. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 93.29806 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is somewhat lower than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Nevertheless, this place excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
