Facility Inspections
In addition to performing well overall, this nursing home received nearly flawless government inspections. Consequently, it earned one of our best grades in that area with a grade of A+. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its impressive profile, this nursing home also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. In a long-term care setting, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 70.47872 percent of its patients. This is somewhat less than we were hoping for. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning our next area, this facility was awarded a strong short-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- in that area. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be more important for individuals needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
The final area we graded was nursing, where this facility was awarded a B+. This topped off an elite report card. Few facilities earned a B+ or better in each of our categories. The nursing score weighs a handful of components, most of which are associated with nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This nursing home was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
