Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to earning a strong overall score, this nursing home performed well in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Our nursing grade is mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an B+. Few nursing homes performed as well in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's third best area was its long-term care score, where it was awarded a grade of B-. Long-term care scores are based on a facility's amount of care. This means a broad scope of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. Once we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinates 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we assessed is short-term care. We gave this facility a B- in this area. Our short-term care ratings are important for individuals looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
