Facility Inspections
Although we did not have many favorable things to say about this nursing home's overall grade, it earned a somewhat respectable inspection report this year. It received a decent grade in that area with a score of B-. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. While this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of B- for our nursing rating. Our nursing grade is mostly associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

Short-term Care Quality
This facilities next most favorable area was short-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is essentially a middle of the pack score in this category. In computing our short-term care ratings, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is more often than not a meaningful measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we considered the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the next area, this facility was awarded a decent long-term care score of B-. In a long-term care setting, the facility's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.65398 percent of its patients. This facility keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
