Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
We also want to emphasize the fact that this nursing home received a high-end score of A- in our short-term care area. In crafting these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to devise a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it was given a grade of B+. It outpaced most facilities in this area. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.29825 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to the next category, this facility was given a decent nursing grade. Although this was not as strong as some of its other scores, this is really a middle of the pack score. Our nursing score is based on several components, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this subcategory.
