Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this facility really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our inspection ratings are based on pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Long-term Care Quality
The second most favorable category we gave this facility in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. In our long-term care category, we focus on the amount of care offered by a nursing home, as well as a handful of quality metrics. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility provided the vaccine to 98.408485 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable figure. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility ended up receiving a a very poor score in our short-term care area. It received a lowly F in this area. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. With a grade of this caliber in this category, we were not shocked to discover this place was well below average in the two key staffing figures we assess. The nursing home supplied significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
The last area we assessed was nursing. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal score. This is clearly a major disappointment. In calculating a facility's nursing score, we consider the number of hours nurses are caring for patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This facility averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Unfortunately, this facility also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hour totals. We looked at the percentage of patients suffering pressure ulcers and we were disappointed. This nursing home was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this area. This is a bad sign when you consider that many pressure ulcers are preventable with better nursing care. This metric helped pull down this nursing home's nursing grade significantly.
