Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this facility earned near flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Among this facility's other strengths is its superb long-term care score. We gave them one of our more favorable scores in that category, with a grade of A-. When facilities receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a good sign for patient care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 97.29437 percent of its residents, which is significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. Our nursing grade includes numerous datapoints. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we analyzed was short-term care, in which this nursing home received a grade of C. Although this ended up being its lowest category rating, this is still not a poor grade. Our short-term care ratings are probably more meaningful for those in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
