Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an excellent short-term care score, with a grade of A. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive category grades, this nursing home also excelled in the category of inspections, where it earned an A. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. This facility received 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to resident health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our nursing score considers numerous subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Turning to the next area, this nursing home was given a respectable long-term care score. Although this was not as strong as many of its other category grades, this is still not a poor grade. Our long-term care grade is used to judge a nursing home's performance as a traditional nursing home, as opposed to focusing on the skilled nursing services provided by a rehabilitation facility. After we finished assessing the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 99.15398 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
