Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an A+. Nursing scores are largely associated with a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving residents more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was long-term care. This nursing home was superb in our long-term care rating also. We gave them an elite score of A+ in this area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.51923 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly health condition for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The fourth category we assessed is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of A. This wrapped up an elite report card. Only a select few nursing homes received an A- or higher in every category. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
