Facility Inspections
The main reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an excellent inspection score. Its inspection score was far superior to its overall grade. In the inspections category, we gave it an A-. Our inspection scores are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home earned an B in our nursing category. Our nursing rating is largely associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the category of long-term care, this facility was given just a D in that area. If you are looking for services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinates 98.101265 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed was short-term care, was this nursing home's worst area. We gave this facility a D in that area. Short-term care ratings are important for individuals needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Given its score in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the data we looked at. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
