While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Our inspection scores are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Sadly, this nursing home's next highest score is short-term care. Nevertheless, with a D in this area, it still fared relatively badly. In determining these short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to formulate a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. As you might expect, we learned that this facility offers significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing grade is based on many datapoints, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This facility offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care.

The next area we scored is long-term care, in which this nursing home was given an abysmal score in this category also. Sadly, it received an F in this area, which is obviously very concerning. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 91.83673 percent of its residents. This is slightly below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.
