Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable inspections in recent years. We gave it a B+ in this category, which was much better than its overall grade. Our inspection grades are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

As it turns out, this facility only earned a grade of D for its long-term care score, which is actually one of its more favorable category scores. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.28058 percent of its patients, which is better than most nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. There are a host of criteria within this category. Many of these factors reflect levels of nurse staffing. This place provided a meager 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This place performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we analyzed was short-term care, proved to be this facility's weakest area. We gave this facility a grade of D in that area. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
