Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility also was awarded a strong long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it an above average score of B+ in this area. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 98.78049 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. In determining our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving a patient more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final area we scored was short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B. Although this ended up being its lowest category rating, this is nevertheless an impressive grade. Our short-term care scores are believed to be more critical for folks needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
